Driven by purpose, Stefany embraces her software engineering journey as an opportunity to create solutions that improve lives and connect people across communities. This mindset led her to seek experiences that would challenge her skills, broaden her perspective, and prepare her for a global career in technology.
The turning point came when she joined ASEAN Data Science Explorers (ASEAN DSE) 2024. Through the programme, Stefany immersed herself in solving real-world problems aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She gained hands-on exposure to analytics and data-driven technologies, discovering how enterprise systems can transform raw data into meaningful insights along with scalable solutions. These experiences strengthened her technical foundation and deepened her understanding of technology’s real-world impact beyond theory.
More than that, Stefany also has the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different backgrounds, cultures, and ways of thinking. Their shared passion and innovation earned them recognition to represent the Philippines as a Regional Finalist. As part of a diverse and dynamic team, she learned that impactful solutions are built not only on strong technical skills, but also on empathy, communication, and collaboration.
“Working in a multicultural environment helped me to appreciate diverse perspectives and taught me how to clearly communicate complex ideas. These skills are essential in today’s global technology landscape”, Stefany shares. She also becomes more confident to speak up, share ideas, and work effectively across borders and disciplines.
Currently, as a Software Engineer, Stefany continues to carry these lessons forward. The support of SAP and the ASEAN Foundation through ASEAN DSE played an important role in shaping her growth, equipping her with both technical expertise and a global mindset. Her journey reflects how ASEAN DSE inspires young talents to believe in their potential, embrace diversity, and use technology as a force for positive change across the region.
